WordlessWedneday/Bonfire of the Censuses

The morning of June 28, 1922, Irish censuses 1821-1851 along with many other records are lost forever in the burning of the Four Courts.

  1. So very sad. I have often lamented the loss of the 1890 American census to fire...it seems like a lot happened for my relatives in the 20 year gap between censuses. I can't even fathom the difficulty of tracking ancestors with a 40-year gap.

  2. I know what you man Heather! It's an irreplaceable loss made worse by it's being intentional. Thanks for stopping by.
